Manctopia on BBC2

I bet he’s a rag? He’s just got that way about him lol
One of the first things I thought when I saw him was rag. Comes across as a total insincere bellend and is on it for the limelight. God help those people who have bought properties in that mill.

Most will have had money back I would imagine as he will be past the long stop date in the sale agreement.

He is now blaming covid! Does Paul dennet still rent that flat though?

As far as I know but it isn't 'council' or 'state' owned, and as all housing association debt was transferred from public to private at the end of 2015 also he claims to live in a 'council house' were even more of a stretch - although he would have preserved right to buy. As someone who earns over £60k a year he shouldn't need subsidised social rented accommodation.

i would normally criticize anyone in his position, but he uses it as a badge of honour.

To be honest the hypocrisy of the Salford Star was worse, they jumped all over Cllr Paul Longshaw giving him a hypocrisy award regarding not delivering enough affordable housing, then seem to be against any development, and you don't get affordable housing without development.

Salford star! No words. I honestly have no words for them.

I await an update after it finishes as to how well it’s all going since Covid arrived...

He has not got a pot to piss in and is clueless. His new apartments next to the mill conversion has sold 9 of the 75 units and it is finished. The spec is poor and build quality not good. The mill is 3 million over budget and was due to be completed September 19 and is now forcast to be 2 years late. It is not his money. He is a front for a high net worth individual. And the lines he is spouting are just utter cringe.
Got to agree.
For someone supposed to be heading it up he is very inarticulate.
His backstory doesn’t ring true either.

If you buy an off-plan apartment that comes from a 200yr old converted mill, you have to expect delays. That’s why they got it at a discount

As for the people of Salford. Who do they think will pony up the 4mil, Gary Neville and co don’t seem keen so there will have to be some give and take - after 20 years of campaigning, she had a solution. Not a perfect one but a workable solution non the less. Here’s to the next 20 years, I suppose......

The housing crisis will never be solved in this county, it’s not supposed to be solved either - if they could build 10 millions homes tomorrow they wouldn’t. Our economy relies on the supply/demand relationship of the housing stock. If we have an over supply the £250k semi in ‘Platting Village’ isn’t going for anywhere near that and the poor unfortunate who bought it is left in lumber

Still loads of scaffolding around that mill in Piccadilly east or whatever they call it now , looks miles off being completed

I thought that too. The fact that he is converting a mill and didn’t pick up the poor quality beams (Ep 2) made me a bit suspicious . I have a developer client who has converted 6 or 7 of similar mills in Yorkshire and he surveys up to the hilt - wouldn’t get devt funding without full structural surveys.

The developer lives in Hale and as part of the article attached claims little interest in football apart from taking 2 of his kids to watch the rags.

I remember the mansion in Buille Hill Park as the mining museum. Most of my family live very close to it and it's Rag Central.

I can't see where the £4 mill figure for restoring it comes from - sounds like a load of bollocks.

The River Irwell?

I'm just saying I was born in C on M and lived in Gorton but never ever went to Salford.......For some unknown reason we classed it as a scary place ....bandit territory. Always thought it was full of reds in the 70's

I know its the Irwell mate,i just didnt get your bandit reference.
I suppose anywhere you dont go to often is a bit scary,i was always wary of the Moss, even though i went a least once every two weeks.
Also you are right it was full of the scummy fuckers in the 70s,school was a nightmare,....strangely enough a few more blues are appearing now.

How do you feel about younger folks saying Salford is just a part of Manchester?

Asking for a friend, I come in peace.
