Weekends only

Temporary prohibition of traffic from Fairfield St – Chester Rd.

Alternative route: Fairfield St – Whitworth St – Whitworth St West – Bridgewater Viaduct – Chester Rd.

Isn't that the whole of the Mancunian Way? ...are they stupid? There's gonna be atleast 20k+ people passing that way on Satuday, why not do it on International Weekend. Traffic's gonna be murder.

Usually is yeah, for some reason every few months they have to shut it for the weekend to carry out maintenance. No idea why it needs so much maintenance though.

Last time this happened, I'm sure it was for Villa or Birmingham City, maybe a Liverpool team, whoever it was I knew they'd HAVE to use the Manc. Way.

I rang the council to check that it was right, and did they know City were at home that day. They said they knew but it was the Highways Agency who made the decision.

For the planners, it seems logical. For everyone else with a brain it seems stupid.
