Mangala signs new contract

I just had to check that it's not April 1st. Absolutely bizarre one that. Even if the aim was to make sure we get a fee, we haven't been successful at getting one so far, so why would it suddenly change now? The only thing I can think of is maybe Kompany is retiring in the summer and needing to make sure we have an experienced 4th defender without spending more money. But there was talk of Kompany signing an extension too, so I can't see that.
 
Makes it cheaper to send him on loan?

He must know no big club will sign him when he not played for so long. Perhaps he has a year's loan lined up somewhere to prove himself.
 
FFS this can definitely only mean one thing...

The club are expecting/preparing for a transfer ban!
 
Stop saying we must be getting a transfer ban. It makes no fuckin sense. Firstly any ban would be appealed giving us the summer to sign players. But more importantly, why would we need Mangala even if we had a transfer ban? We have Stones, Laporte, Otamendi, Kompany. We would only need to sign a new centre half if one of them left. Then we have Sandler, Garcia and Tosin, all of whom could easily play a similar role to Mangala.

It's not because of a transfer ban. Chill the fuck out.

We've never needed The Mangler more than perhaps now! Stones off, Laporte injured, Komper's a wee bit flakey. We only need Otters to go down and then we're into the Academy. I've seen Sandler and Garcia and as good as they are, I think the likes of a fuckin' CF dinosaur would kill 'em. The Mangler reminds me of the Irish troops that Wellington had at Waterloo. When asked if they would do the business tomorrow against Bonaparte His Grace replied that he didn't know if they would frighten the French, but as sure as fuck they frighten me. The Mangler might not frighten any PL CF but he ain't gonna be shoved around!
 
Loan to another CFG club perhaps? Chinese league season starts around now, doesn't it?

Could be anything like that, but he was probably on the verge of getting a move somewhere when he got injured & needs to prove himself before anyone half decent will sign him.

We look after the player, keep his agent sweet etc, maybe get a decent fee at the end of it.
