Manuel Neuer breaks his leg

Was it Andy Goram who played club cricket but was stopped by Rangers?
I remember the days of players who played cricket in the summer and football in the winter.
Chris Balderstone, Ken Grieves, Geoff Hurst, Arthur Milton and several more.
Viv Richards played football for Antigua in a World Cup qualifier. They lost.
Earlier Denis Compton was a top player of both sports.

Jack Dyson, City and Lancashire if I remember correctly. And maybe 1 other.

At his age that could be career ending.

I hope for his sake it isn't, but what was he thinking.

He won't be the only German/ Austrian/ Swiss/ Scandinavian player from the Bundesliga to go skiing I reckon too.

Absolutely ridiculous to have that league restarting on the 20th January.

Arnie Sidebottom.
Football for the scum, 1972-75
cricket for Yorkshire, 1973 - 91

There's been a lot of sports men who were badly injured or even killed in event not related to their sports.
Nicky Hayden springs to mind straight away.
Knocked down while cycling after winning the World Moto GP championship only a few years earlier.
Michael Schumacher severely injured while skiing.

I know Premier league academy contracts prevents you from going skiing, so find it very hard to believe he would have been allowed. And even if he somehow ws, just have some common sense, you can go skiing every week for the rest of your life in a few years time if you want.
I think Germans are more keen on skiing than Brits so it may be normal for professional sportsmen to do it. Munich is just a couple of hours drive from some good ski resorts so it is something that could be done on a spare day.
This accident may change things for players in the German leagues though.
