If we do not qualify for the knock stages this time around (and it is more than possible that we will)
Then I think he will be under serious pressure next season to reach the semi finals as a minimum.
Failure to do so and he will be nicely and politely moved on.

That will depend almost solely upon who's available rather than results. It's also worth baring in mind his contract is up at the end of next season.

He has done more than a decent job for us that is for sure. And he does appear to be a genuine and nice guy.
However we now need a manager with demonstrable CL experience.
Next season would be about the right time.

He has more experience than most in the CL and has taken teams further than our previous manager ever did with far less resources. This season is his second attempt with City, at his first attempt he took us further than we'd ever been. There's still everything to play for in the competition this season.

Baring all that in mind, I think writing him off prematurely as you did around this time last season is futile.

It's all about natural cycles for managers from here on in.

Ferran and Txiki have made that very clear and contracts will be issued with that in mind.

Pellegrini has and is doing a magnificent job imombut I don't expect him to be here past his contract, no matter how successful he may be.

Yeah, that's why I said that it will depend upon who's available rather than results. Pellegrini's not the kind of guy they're going to have to shove out the door because everyone hates him, so in that sense if the person they want to replace him (Pep or Klopp) wants another year before moving clubs then it could well be that Manuel gets a new contract.

Actually having said that, if he wins the league again this season he'll get a new contract regardless.

People jump the gun so quickly here,I personally thought after winning 2 titles in most extra ordinary circumstances would bring in some maturity but its not the case, chelsea had a ominous start in Ancheloti last season blowing teams left right and center until they visited us and we beat them and then it all changed after that
Have some patients ffs

I've no doubt that Pellegrini knows exactly what sort of progression plan is in place right now.

If he shows progression in the CL and manages to win the league and cups on a consistent basis he will be here beyond his contract. Whilst I do believe in having cycles of managers to encourage motivation and new ideas, I think it would be madness to allow him to leave if we are doing well. There aren't many managers that I would want the club to hire. I'm certainly not interested in any up and coming young managers. I think City have to hire a CL winning manager after Pellegrini. Ancelotti, Guardiola... Hiddink? Who knows!

I have full faith in Pellegrini, I think he is intelligent enough and not so narrow minded to address the faults we have. That is why in my opinion he is such a good manager. Many believe their system is the best way to play and many refuse to change that system. Others are unwilling to take blame when things go wrong or learn from their errors but I think Pellegrini knows exactly what needs to change with this side and it boils down to self-belief and reaching their potential.
