Cucurella should sack his agent. His agent should have had a £35 mil buyout clause inserted, if any champs league club wanted him, and he'd by a happy boy now
If he’s smart he should be staying put and asking for the salary that goes with a £50-£65 Mil price tag…..that’s what his agent should be doing now, getting that new deal.

It's odd because reports were Chelsea walked away from the Aké deal after being quoted far less for him by City than they're reportedly being quoted for Cucurella by Brighton.

Why walk away from a former club trained academy product, experienced PL player & longstanding Netherlands international, then potentially pay £20m more for one PL season, one international cap Cucurella?

Summats not adding up here! :-/
I agree mate its strange

It must be frustrating being one of Brighton's top players. All they're missing is a great goalscorer, but watching them take punt after punt on dross like Percy Tau and Florin Andone hardly fills you with confidence. I don't understand why they don't just splash a bit more for someone with a proven PL record. Iheanacho would be amazing there.

Salary structure precludes someone like him. But have decent hopes for new signing Undav.

So in your desperation to keep a left back, you quote a sky high price & if someone thinks he's worth it & pays it, it's them bringing inflationary pressure into the market, not the profiteering seller? Essentially this is what you're saying yeh?

OK then. Seeing as this is the case, why is it other PL clubs & the media keep spinning the narrative that it's CITY who keep bringing inflationary pressure into the transfer market & as such are ruining football to the point that very few can compete?

Are you aware that until last summer, Arsenal, Spuds, Chelsea, ManUre & The Scousers ALL had higher record transfer fees way in excess of City's?

My point is that irrespective of our annual revenue, Sheikh Mansour's mantra from the beginning was ALWAYS for a period of heavy investment to drive accelerated growth, & then City were on their own & that's how it's been since 2013/14 & we've been self sufficient ever since & have always spent within our means.

HENCE we'll walk away when the likes of Bloom takes the piss, OR he applies a punitive fee to Cucurella to scare us off (whichever way you look at it).

So I've noticed Brighton fans on here are still spinning the crap narrative that City are some loadsamoney oil rich club to whom money & real world value mean little. So more questions.

1. You yourself have confirmed Brighton's model of buy low, develop & sell on. So dya wanna stick to that model & be reasonable, or dya just wanna stiff moneybags City up the shitter?

2. If it's your model to sell players on, why place a king's ransom price on their heads & claim it's because you want to keep your best players? What is it? Are you a selling club, or dya have title ambitions & want to build a super team?

3. How will future emerging stars feel about going to Brighton if they believe if successful, there's a good chance of them being priced out of a dream move?
I agree with you, its not just Brighton who see city as a money bag club, and im glad that you have walked away not because i dont want Cucu to go but because you have stuck to your guns. Wait to Newcastle start trying to get players, dont know if its true but i read that there owners are wealthier than you so its going to be a Geordie tax.

This is part of the problem with modern football now, i dont like it that clubs inflate prices because you have money, its not fair on the player.
This is where i fel sorry for Cucu he wants u, but unfairly Brighton have priced him out of that. I have nothing against him wanting to go as far as he can, u were the ideal club for him. We will never be able to compete with top 6 sides, our aim is that spot between 7 and 10th with maybe a cup final here or there. Thats how i would describe ourr ambitions. Hopefully that answered 1 and 2.
Yes it is a risk Bloom is taking, hopefully for BHAFC it does not backfire on him. Time will tell, one thing i will say is alot of our scouting is south america and unknown players, so there only real chance of P L is Brighton. However in Europe im sure agents will be weary of getting the best deal from Bloom. Again only time will tell.

I think alot of fans and media will say Bloom stood up to City because for some reason they like to give u bad press, again i dont know why. As i said some time ago, u have had ur off field problems, and have now risen to the top, and good luck u deserve it.
I was at the Goldstone in May 2 weeks i think before the cup final, you beat ys 1 nil to relegate us to division 2, yes u also come down the following week but i think went straight back up, we us that was the start of our decline.

I suppose I'll stick my head above the parapet on this one.....

1. Yes we did, it was a release clause and great deal. He was clearly worth way more than that from the moment he stepped foot on the pitch.

2. Not surprised, would be a great deal for a young player who would fit seamlessly into your style of play.

3. We don't actually want to sell. Although I believe you bought Zinchenko for less than 2m and sold him for 32m, which is FOUR SQUARED times more. If we're going to be convinced, make us an offer we can't refuse. You'd do the same for any of your stars. If PSG want Foden? There will be a price you'd say yes to, and it would be astonishingly large.

A. The answer is its neither of us or both of us, it's just what has happened to football. Mouthwatering transfer fees were happening while we played at the withdean athletics track, and before you were taken over by Abu Dhabi. And more relevantly, rather than complain about it, we can surely both recognise that we've each taken advantage of it way better than most of our competitors, you're now one of the best teams in the world, we've gone from a relegation scrap in league 1 to top half of the Premier league. Poorly managed historically 'big clubs are languishing, well managed clubs like City and the Albion are flourishing. Under different management we'd just be one of the myriad of 'smaller clubs who can't compete'

We werent taken over by Abu Dhabi.
