If its not true, he would have said so. As he appears to be keeping quiet, I would say a transfer request has been put in.Wonder if Andy Naylor still thinks Cucurella is happy at Brighton.
Agreed, I said the same, this board or transfer committee is lucky they have the best coach of this generation.People can bang on about how well we are run as much as they want but we haven't had a proper left back for ages and it is obvious we both need one and want one. Nothing about this situation is what the club would like it to be.
There is a line between not overpaying and getting what the team needs, that line is not straight and bends differently every window. Someone has decided it's worth paying 100M for Grealish in a position we didn't need urgent reinforcement in but not 50M for Cucurella. Let's not even bring our previous defensive reinforcements into highlight here. There is no sense to be made here regarding what the club will or won't pay.
It's all good saying let's not overpay but there's also a scenario (a decent chance scenario!) that we will move for a backup option now, someone like Sosa for maybe 15-20M and then in a year we will be back here after that risk doesn't work out and something will tell me then we would pay that extra.
Looking transfers in general and our history my opinion is that 50M for Cucurella is not an outrageous price, I'm sure there's some middle ground with 40+10 that Brighton would work with too. I wouldn't raise an eyebrow for that price, I did raise for Grealish and for example Nunez to Pool. United just signed Martinez for like 55M and if anything I would consider Cucurella better.
Right, a transfer request by the player I think means we'll have to raise the price. If he's willing to jeopardize his position we should show our appreciation and faith and not abandon him.
Prior to us complying with FFP we set a precedent years before mate. Most of our players signed since ADUG bought us have been inflated fees due to their(our) wealth. I wouldn't want to miss out on signing Cucuralla because we're baulking on an odd million or two price difference. Can't agree. If we are seen to give in to whatever arbitrary and OTT price is being demanded, then we'll set a precedent for every future deal. It's hard enough to negotiate with other PL clubs as it is, given that the press is always itching to portray the other party as a victim of City "arrogance" and "bullying" and/or their chairman as a "hard nosed businessman that we would be wise not to mess with", etc etc. Far better IMO to walk away as we have done many times before and look elsewhere......
And one of them said his Mrs doesn't want to leave because Manchester hasn't got a beach. But according to the Brighton fans who have come on here, he's really settled and wouldn't do anything to upset the apple cart...
Harry Kane says HiYeah - providing this update is accurate, you’d have to assume we’ll go the extra mile to make this happen now.
Given the calibre of people running our Club, I can’t see us being disloyal enough to leave a player to stew at his current club after handing a request in to make the deal happen.
Successful negotiations between three parties require each to show a bit of willing and flexibility - Cucurella has done his part, I’d imagine we’ll do ours too.
The question is will Bloom block his player’s desired move this publicly - with the precedent this sets for him in future potential acquisitions - or will he show a bit of willing and move on to the next one with a very tidy profit in the bank?
That was funny. And one of them said his Mrs doesn't want to leave because Manchester hasn't got a beach.
The fussy twat will have to settle for a picnic under a beach tree in Heaton park then, like the rest of us.Just read on sky sports he handed in a transfer request someone needs to tell him we don't have a beach before this goes too far!!
