Marc Guehi | Staying at Palace

Isak and Elitiki bed in this season and then Salah goes to Saudi for 70m next summer.

Hate to say it but Liverpool have done exactly what we should've done when we won the treble. A brilliant summer of recruitment for them, filling every weak area in their squad and improving pretty significantly.
Yip,we were to busy high fiving and giving ourselves a good pat on the back, then took our eye off the ball and this is were we find ourselves ..

Not just Pep that - the DoF surely has a part to play ? Regardless, don't think enough scrutiny has taken place regarding squad weaknesses. Easy to say with hindsight of course - we're all wise after the event.

But 100% you're pushing your luck after 4 in a row

If Palace wanted Akanji why couldn’t we do a deal with them that included Guehi ?

Think we’ve massively fücked up, and we’re in for a very long season, or short competitively.
We are defensively a shambles.

Sounds about right.

They've been very smart with their transfers over the last couple of years..

Of course, those new players still have to prove they're top quality at the highest level. No certainties.

and there lies the problem, Liverpool have not stood still after one title
The point is Pep believed in his squad as being good enough for 4 more titles, including a treble.

Liverpool went 5 yrs between their 2 titles. There’s no guarantees with any signings they’ve made. So many variables.

Note to Pep, invest when your Champions and NEVER take for granted your squad is good enough
Invest if the players want to come, and if the deal suits the club. Is that what you mean?

Plenty in here think it’s like championship manager, or like other clubs don’t exist.

Liverpool looking home and dry for two in a row already and next season we need a spend of similar magnitude if we are to prevent them from making it 3 on the spin.

But how lucky was Pep with Rodri for 4 seasons? We were a walking time bomb without anybody at the club who can play in his role

Guehi wanted to play for Liverpool. When you are a top team you get players wanting to play for you. We had it with Haaland. They got Wirtz and Guehi because rightfully they look more stable than us.
