If there’s any truth to this, then I doubt we’ll get Guehi. Stones extending makes it pretty unlikely. We will be rewarding Stones with a new contract, I guess we are not that bothered with him being forever injured.

That would be only with reduces salary and similar or lesser role in the team tho and i’m not against it, he still is a top CB when he is not battling injuries
 
I really think we should go for him, he's not bad. Would really pi££ on Dip chips too for snaffling Wirrz from us. (NB at current time that's no loss, but who can tell in the future......?).
Just don't let Dips have free run at him. Yet another they've unsettled and tapped up whilst under contract to another team. And yet, and yet sweet feck all is said in the media about this disgraceful behaviour.
 
The John Stones tweet makes no sense, whether we renew or not Khaldoon is probably very unlikely to be worried about losing him on a free.

We ain’t getting money for him ever.

For me it’s a tough choice, but we should let him go, Guehi would be a great replacement given home grown and age.

But won’t be near prime John Stones

The issue is - there will be a bidding war for Guehi and there is a bigger chance of him going to Liverpool ir stay in London with either Chelsea or Arsenal

We shouldn’t be scared of a bidding war for a HG player who gets in our squad on merit regardless of HG status.

As you say we might not get him, but at the very least it ups the price for others.

The issue is Liverpool and the fact they could well be 2 in 2 and he has literally already agreed terms with them.

No he won't be better than Stones but that really isn't the question the club will be asking.They will look at and follow the progress Khusonov,Gvardiol,Reis, Bah and the academy centre backs and decide whether with Stones and Dias to guide them is there a need for Guehi in the years ahead.
 
I don’t think he makes sense with the Dias extension. Unless one of bah and Reis gets loaned out again or sold. We would be at 6 CB again with only 2 spots AFTER SELLING/ loaning stones AND Ake.

I would be absolutely amazed if the club negotiated a new contract. We did not even offer a pay as you play deal for De Bruyne so it’s hard to believe we would for Stones in a position where consistency and a settled back line is the key. Been a great servant but already we’re here again where he cannot put a string of matches together.

So sacrifice two or three seasons waiting to see if youngsters are good enough and Stones can stay fit, while there’s a ready made top class centre back available now?

Hopefully we treat this like we did the goalkeeper situation and go for proven quality over patience and hope.

Genuine question, what's he like in a back 4 which most teams play with?

Seems like his game has gone up a level since Glasner came in and turned then into a back 3, but also can't say ive watched them to closely

Is he the same player in a back 4

Think he's England's best CB atm so a free transfer would be a coup and a no brianer, but I've resigned he's off to the Dippers

With Khusanov-Gvardiol with Reis/Bah in the background and Dias still here, it's not really a priority
