Yep,as Sam points out,this is where we're at with Lopes - he's very inconsistent.

Last season he went from sublime to invisible in many games,however,i'd expect little else at this stage of his development.

The loan to Lille will gain him far more game time,at a sustained higher level,than he'd ever have got here,and hopefully consistency will be a by product.

That's what you get with younger players it's not an issue even the established players have stinkers it's what you do in the next game

To be honest, even though he had a pretty naff game there were still a couple of moments of genuine quality. Two back to back at one point - there was a beautifully weighted through ball that the keeper just got to and another excellent explosive dribble which would have taken him clear of the whole backline had he not been cynically taken out. There's clearly talent there.

The conditions really weren't susceptible to much midfield play, it was more about getting from back to front and individual dribbles with the pitch so soaked. He did show some really nice touches though, with a great ability to burst through the middle of the pitch with the ball at his feet, but he struggled to get on the ball much.

This Portuguese team look a bit special though, along with their under 17's and under 21's and in Andre Silva, they might even have a striker for once! I smell another golden generation...

Rested to protect him from suspension today (already on a yellow and Portugal are through) but Jorge Intima comes in and plays on the wing. Have to admit I've not seen much of Intima, anyone know which age group of ours he plays in?

He's listed in the EDS squad although he's only 18. Not sure how often he's played for them though.

Intima plays mainly for the U18s & is highly rated although I find him a bit headless. No doubting his talent though.

He looks a powerful runner and a good dribbler, he's not had a chance to show much end product so far.

I don't know mate, whenever he has played he has showed his end product, I think in total he has played 4 cup games for us and in that time he has scored one goal and got two assists.

He scored a goal and in all honesty missed a perfect chance in the friendly in Abu Dhabi in May as well.

His record for the Portugal U19 is 14 in 21 which for an attacking midfielder is decent.

I really hope he carries on improving because I really can see him in our team in the next few years.

Sorry for the confusion, I was talking about Intima, not Lopes. I couldn't rate Lopes much higher, I'm pretty sure I even went as far as to call him a future Ballon D'Or candidate a couple of years ago (slightly rashly it has to be said!)
