Marcos Lopes

There isn't a place for him here that he'll want.

We have Silva, Nasri, Milner, and Navas already. He'd be our fifth choice attacking midfielder and that's presuming that he gets in front of Pozo aswell.

Either him or Pozo will leave in the summer because there aren't the opportunities available here that they need to progress.

Pozo and Lopes will be on loan next season in my opinion.

Both are still very young and cannot expect to be regulars in the squad for at least a couple more seasons.

I can name 10 players who are regulars for CL challenging clubs who are around that age.

This idea that being young makes you crap has got to go.

I'd like to see you name them?

Not sure what's made you make this decleration? Is it a response to something? All four of those other attacking players are 27-29, he is 18. He is also capable of playing CM as well, but even being 5th choice attacking midfielder isn't a reason to discard your best young player? (especially as he offers something the other four don't, with his directness) Barker would presumably be 6th choice, so should we discard him as well? I cannot imagine for a second that we would even consider selling either of him or Pozo in the summer, nor do I have any idea why you think we would? Pozo may well go out on loan, but I would amazed if we decide to get rid of our best young players, for no apparent reason.

I imagine he feels he could easily knock Navas or Milner out of the team within a year or two if he develops well and takes his chances.

Varane, Hazard, Wilshire, Rooney, Sterling, Gotze.

Then I'm struggling and even then none of them are 18.

Following the logic that we will discard Pozo &/or Lopes, we will also be discarding most of the current EDS & U19s a year from now, then discard most of the players from the youth cup team, the following year, with presumably Garcia & all, the lads coming up from below there, all fucking off the following year, then presumably we shut the academy down because everybody is wasting their time.

Complete & utter bollocks of the highest order.

We have a great bunch of kids who are just the right age to be brought into the first team squad over the coming seasons. If Pozo is out of contract or something, then there is little we can do, but otherwise he'll be going nowhere unless it's on loan.

It's an harsh post from Damo and as much as I would love to see a few kids coming up through the ranks I can see where he is coming from. There going to be a turnover of good young players over the next couple of years and amongst them and a few gems will undoubtedly slip through the net as there will be not much opportunity in the first team as the position they play in has already been filled by top quality seniors.

There is absolutely no doubt that from now on, talented kids will be leaving the club. There are too many coming through, for us to keep them all. One or two may well turn out to be top players elsewhere, as it's impossible to be sure at that age & you can't keep everyone & hold them back. And it could even be that Pozo & Lopes end up in that catagory, if other lads come through quickly who go past them & they don't grab their chances.

But the idea that the fate of either is sealed, purely because we have Silva, Nasri etc, is great big hairy bollocks.

We are DESPERATELY short of club trained players.
