Marcos Lopes

It's tempting to keep him here next season but for his own development (and thus our greater gain in the longer term) it's probably better he go out on loan again at least until January. Playing every week, getting into a rhythm etc. will benefit him more.

The main thing to do is to make damn sure we don't lose him to Barca or Real.

He's the best prospect we've had for donkey's years and would save us 30+m in the transfer market.

He's a future star.

Lille knows a thing or two about developing young players, should stay there for at least another season.

According to Centre international d'étude du sport:
MONEY EARNED FROM SELLING HOMEGROWN PLAYERS SINCE 2012

Hazard makes up over half of that income. Hardly a proven track record of developing youngsters.

Debuchy was a bargain, so was Digne who was once considered best left-back of his age, also Ligue 1 has well-deserved reputation for giving youth a chance. Not long ago Ligue 1 had most academy graduates playing professionally.

And another £10 mill of it for Origami which only seems to prove they're good con men.

A reputation deservedly earned by fantastic academies at Lyon and Marseille. Not so much Lille.

Or that Rodgers likes a lucky dip with transfers.

That's why i said Ligue 1, nor i am comparing them with Lyon. Anyway, they were still above Ajax and Rive Plate in that list.

He is developing well at Lille, so lets loan him for a 2nd season so he can develop more.
Some people on this forum, including me, think that we should keep him with the 1st team as he can help us and add some desire and pace to our game, and probably score some goals
Did I read that his contract is up at the end of next year? If so, I think we will be compelled to keep him at city to entice him to resign.

Right. So, because Hazard spent a couple of years there before going to Chelsea, Digne was once overrated and Debuchy played there, we should leave Lopes playing hoofball in a dire team with no attacking intent where he's already suffered one bad injury due to the incompetence of their staff, when tbf, we could use him here or failing that, he'll have no end of suitors for a loan spell next season.

I don't know how many were Academy graduates (a misleading term as Lille signed Hazard and Origi, a good €55m of that list, from other clubs academies) at Ajax but they've brought in more (€84m) than Lille in transfers in the same time period and developed every player, maybe we should loan him there? After all the Dutch league has a fantastic reputation too.

First: Quality of defending is much better in Ligue 1 compare to other leagues.
Second: Even if there will be suitors, there is no guarantee they will play him week in, weak out.
Third: Unlike at City where our players hardly pass to youth players whenever someone gets the chance, he is probably the only creative option they have, and Lille players seem to trust him.
