Marcus Rashford lobbying govt to help vulnerable children

Well done to his PR people who wrote it for him.

Well done Rashfords PR team. Great bit of brand building. Wrote a letter for him too.
Media can use this story too, plenty of clicks, win , win situation.
Might be a genuine lad, but building up his account numbers is genuine too.

Typical response from people on here. Why do people find it so hard to praise others trying to do well?

If you had read my further post, I gave him plenty of praise, and said nothing negative about the lad.
School dinners are a symptom of the problem. If a footballer wanted to get involved in a movement which stressed the huge responsibility of fatherhood, I would be in awe.
Generations of broken families, are the issue ,if it is not tackled, the dinner queue just gets longer while the parents sit at home drinking strong larger.
Marcus comes from a disturbed family, and he has done wonderfully well to achieve what he has, as has Sterling .
Read , and think before you reply, your try to me was ill informed, and silly.

It is indeed typical in so much you even dare to stray from the party line and the pile on ensues.

He will be managed by a PR company as will all of his social media accounts and nothing and i do mean nothing is ever done without asking does it harm me? and what do i get out of it?

Its a worthy cause and a great thing to do but my post and a few others who have agreed is about the PR side of it all.

Just ask the Chilean miners or Liverpool players taking the knee with their title sponsor proudly on display in the background. Both great Human stories and both done to attract publicity and revenue.

Kids will benefit from this which is great but so too will Rashford and that is the point being made.

Saddening, if completely expected response from certain posters. An accurate reflection of society though.

Fantastic work from Rashford. Enjoy seeing footballers utilise their standing to try and make a meaningful impact on the lives of others.

Please tell me why the government should pay for meals during holidays.

Don’t know about other posters but I’m cynical about anything and everything that comes from that cess pit of a club.
In this instance I’m happy to accept some good might come from it and therefore don’t want to be too hard on Rashford, who like I’ve already said, doesn’t seem to be a bad kid.

Because they believe it to be insincere ?

Imagine someone helping raise £20m for food charities for children and your first thought is “insincere rag”.

Not sure I saw the same level of scepticism when Kompany was raising millions for Manchester’s homeless.

Those questioning what role the government has to play in school dinners for children, especially over the last 3 months, go and talk directly with a headteacher of a school in a deprived area and find out exactly what Rashford is aiming to achieve and why.

Have a fucking day off waving your massive blue dicks.

It’s a fair point of view to hold.

Mr Rashford senior leaving his ex + 5 kids to struggle will hopefully feel ashsmed as I would reading this letter were it from one of my kids. So many mother's seem to have been in this situation over the years and his point re the current climate is a fair one in exceptional circumstances. In normal times Child benefits and responsible parenting should ease some of this problem but these are not normal times.

I admire what Rashford has done but have some reservations about his demands for schools to provide food every day of the year. Feeding your children is a key parental responsibility and too many, particularly fathers, seem to shirk it.

I feel sorry for kids in that situation but have little sympathy for the parents - if you cannot provide for your existing kids why keep having more? Over population is going to be one of the key issues over the next few decades.

To close lets hope certain ex Man United directors do not get contracts to supply food to schools - that would finish most of the poor little tykes off for good!

Boris has turned down his request, that's that then. Fair play to Rashford for doing it, refreshing to see these young millionaires actually show they care and that they haven't forgotten where they come from.

When it comes to stuff like this it is the end result that matters.

Whether it is a subject close to his heart or something Rashford PR thought would work well in the media.

If the end result is some of the poorest children get feed, parents don’t have to see their children hungry then it’s helped massively.

Never thought he seemed the normal United type, always seems a bit more grounded.

My view is that it is something he cares about and not done for the publicity etc.

But don’t worry Blues, they will spunk 75 odd million on Grealish soon and there is a twat we can all dislike!

Since Boris turned this one down Rashfords Pr people have taken it to the next level with relevant hashtags and lobbying MPs. He has the statutory support of Gary Lineker , it's starting to feel like a brand launch without the cocktail and canapes .

Sorry to disappoint, but the Co-op have already confirmed they will be contributing over summer and asking other supermarkets to do the same, in lieu of government support.

Whether you want to credit Rashford himself or his PR team, thousands of children in difficult situations will be helped as a result.

That's a good thing surely?
