Mariga: Disgraceful discrimination against lower income cont

By the way, can someone explain to me why United were allowed to sign Mame Biram Diouf from Senegal who only played once for the senior Senegal national team who are ranked 89th in the FIFA world ranking (thus failing BOTH requirements) and we get a work permit refused for a Kenyan (ranked 98th) who has played 75% of Kenya's matches in the last 2 years?

Don't they get round this by loaning them to a Belgian club for a couple of years and so getting around the work permit requirements?

Looks like he played 2 and a half seasons in Norway for Molde, United then signed him and loaned him back to Molde for the second half of the 2009 season. Not sure how the rulings work but I'm guessing the time spent in Norway made this one possible?

The FIFA ranking requirement is based on the average ranking over the 24 months before the transfer and Senegal were well in the top 70 on that basis when Diouf was transferred.

Fact is if he was a player with the reputation of say Messi or Kaka, but was from Kenya, some way would have been found to accommodate him. To bar him on the grounds that his national side is'nt very good is facile.

The other possibility is that the British Home Office is simply racist. In fact, we should go to the European Court of Justice as we are a member of the European Union and the lad has been playing for several years in Italy, a member of the European Union the last time I looked. Its a bloody disgrace. I know several black Africans with excellent academic qualifications who have been refused entry to the UK but who settled in the Netherlands, Germany and/or France with no admission problems. Why does the British Home Office thinks it is so superior?
P.S. Just seen that the lad has signed for Inter Milan. I'm very pleased for him.
