A surprising decision to turn him down based solely on the fact his is Kenyan when it comes down to it. Considering the fact that we have 2 Universities in our city and there is a known Kenyan population in and around Manchester associated to that, the benefit of bringing in a Kenyan player would have been multiple, and I'm sure he'd feel a need to contribute to the CITC programmes and help us branch out and reach new people. I feel this could have sparked an interest in Man City from more people with African roots, and could have only improved Kenya as a team. Could even have generated more interest in football in Kenya itself ahead of a WC year. A baffling decision, or rather a baffling rule. This guy has played football for clubs registered in the EU for the last 4 and a half years.
The fact that he has signed with Inter just shows how highly rated he is, and the decision to deny him a WP is not only unfortunate for us, but it also denies the Premier League his talents and promise. Inter don't sign just anybody. I understand that there has to be a cut-off at some point for WPs, but surely a young International with 24 caps who is being chased by some of the worlds biggest clubs should fall into the category of an acceptable applicant? The alternative is simply that we sign someone else in Summer, likely another foreigner as English players are overpriced and over-rated. So no gain for English Football in the end either. Why is there no provisional WP option, with a re-evaluation in 6/12/18 months? That would be in everyone's interests.
Anyway, what's done is done now. Window closed, Hull up next :)
