He's only been called up for training for now, in preparation for the World Cup qualifiers in March and he's the only Italian playing outside of Italy to be called up, players from other league appear to have been given a rest. It's a bit out of the blue but since leaving Liverpool in 2016 he's averaged 1 in 2 pretty much everywhere he's been. I hope he does well, good to see these 2 back together again:
