Mario Balotelli

Bit disappointed he seemed to be mouthing off to the Coach after his goal. Looked like he was saying something about dropping him and not playing him. Bonucci did him a big favor!!

Oh, and did you notice, even after the ball had been in the net for 2 seconds, O'Shea STILL had a full handful of Mario's shirt pulled up over his head!?!?!

NICE FINISH, Mario!

Great finish but I fear for him in the EPL....The FA hates his antics and the refs seem to go out of their way to pick up on anything he does and book or send him off. Same with pundits in UK....while he continues to entertain and sell newpaper column inches he'll do it at City's expense!!!

Unless he has a change of personality and a maga charm offensive of the powers that be..(lets face it this aint gonna happen soon)..he's never gonna get the cahnce to be a success....hope not but this story could have a very sad ending down the line!!

No i disagree, ok the FA hate him but the pundits blow hot and cold with him, sometimes love him sometimes don't, bit like the die hard city fans really!

He has got a long way to go for me as still doesn't deliver on a consistent basis. Great one minute frustrating the next!! Why did his team mate have to cover his mouth when he scored? Just shows he hasnt learnt anything I'm afraid. I say get rid and replace with
Rvp

I said the other day when Robben flounced off the pitch like a tart after being subbed that it does my head in when a footballer can't put the concept of the team above his own pathetically fragile ego.

Sadly, Balotelli's attempted display of petulance last night falls under the same category. Tournament football is all about utilising your squad; Mario had already started two games and then came off the bench in the third to score a wonder goal. There really was nothing more to add, and certainly nothing to complain about, so just keep your mouth shut and leave the petty point-scoring for another time.

I'm a big fan of Balotelli as a player but he really doesn't help himself. At a time when everyone should be raving about his amazing cameo appearance, he gleefully hands his doubters yet another stick with which to beat him. Prandelli's thought process when that goal went in was probably something along the lines of: "Fucking hell, what a goal, I should have started him...................................Nah, on second thoughts he can't be trusted, the big fucking baby."

Sort your head out Mario and 'get with the program'. Do that and you can be one of the very best.

It was an absolutely fantastic finish.

I agree with the sentiments that it's a squad game, but I can't help thinking that considering Mario plays against most of the Irish side every week, it would have been an ideal game to start him in.

I mean, Richard Dunne is the RoI's senior defender and we put four past the Villa when he was part of their team.

I think most of our refs try and be as patient as they possibly can with him and try and help him out (of course there are odd exceptions like Atkinson who couldn't wait to send him off at Liverpool). Howard Webb often goes over to chat to him after he's done something good to kind of encourage him, and Mike Dean has twice put his hand on his back as if to say "i'm on your side, pal!" keep playing well.

The pundits seem to either love him or hate him. But he is a marmaite character anyway. Only Alan Hansen and especially Jamie Redknapp really berrate him at every opportunity, the rest seem to smile when talking about him even if it's to have a go.

In Italy EVERYBODY hated him. Fans of all clubs, players of other clubs, the refs, the Italian FA, fans of his own club, his teammates and his manager.

In England he actually has it much much easier. Life is a doddle for him here compared. I bet he thinks he hardly gets any stick whatsoever compared to when he was at Internazionale. The only thing is the culture of the cities is very different. Manchester is not Milan.

Agreed. He got tons of boos by the United fans, sorry, Ireland fans and looked to shout something like "that shut the fuckers up" (or something to that effect; in Italian) whilst waving his arm around as if he was talking to the whole stadium. How can people not notice this?!

So he was trying to signal 'sons of bitches' to the crowd rather than show his annoyance at being rested?

In that case, I hold my hands up; I and everyone else in the media who've commented on it have obviously called it wrong.

But the general gist of my point still stands; he just needs to get on with playing the game and forget all the petty point-scoring. The Irish fans booed him? So what? Just get on with what you're good at and stop getting involved in silly petulant things that distract from how good you are. He'd already shut them up with the goal so there was nothing else to add. Reacting like that just shows people that they can quite easily get under his skin, and sadly he's shown that time and time again. No one's going to leave him alone when he keeps hurling ammunition at them to continue.

Just play football Mario and forget the rest.
