Mark Bittner RIP

Old school, well known blue Mark Bittner…
Mark passed away on Monday 28th. His son Karl posted on Facebook. He’d had two big heart attacks. Mark used to own The Wheatsheaf in Onneley, a regular stop off for Blues back in the day.

Sad news indeed

I mentioned this on another thread as I wasn't sure if anyone had posted something similar

I only met Mark once but reading through the various Bluemoon topics he seemed to be known and remembered for different reasons and through different decades from his magnetism on the Kippax in the 1960s to his epic anti-Swales AGM rants in the early 90s

He was also a popular pub landlord, and most impressive of all, was credited with starting a number of City songs including "We went to Rotherham...We won 1-0...." .etc

He was a well known character on the old kippax and bumped into him on many away games over the years a fanatical blue and had a larger then life personality my condolences to all his family

I went to teacher training college in the late 60s.
On induction day we were all gathered in the hall, up on stage were the dignitaries.
We had a pep talk from the head of the college who then introduced the student union rep for a talk and up stood…

Mark Bittner.

Having only known him for his Kippax antics my flabber was truly gasted!

Didn't know him to speak to but knew him. Remember him driving past old trafford on derby day in his car resplendent in blue, City flags out the widows, City songs from the CD, the lot and sounding his horn. Definite character. RIP Mark.

A blast from the past. Port Vale away fa cup under Peter Reid springs to mind ,we had a good drink in his boozer pre match. ,my first ever trip to the Vale,I remember the warm hospitality he gave for the supporters club,I can still remember being impressed by the organization.of Anita Britton who said "we've gorra pub sorted,port Vale, it's Mark Bittner. I knew then he was a name.
Really good pre match drink,top day out.
