Mark Clattenburg

Was never a pen, but what's he got to be corrupt against city for, what would he get from it? I just think he's a wank ref, he's always been shit.

If I was a referee I'd screw United over every game...

So he's been bribed? I'm not saying its an impossibility I just think over the years he's been a shit ref and this doesn't change my opinion of him. What's his face against arsenal wasn't even fit enough to keep up with play earlier this afternoon.
When he's constantly shite against the same few select teams you have to ask questions. The man was suspended early in his career for "business dealings" and called Craig Bellamy a **** before sending him off for "diving" when he was cropped. I hope someone throws dog shit at his face the bent cheat.

Anyone know if that was the same lino today as the one working the reverse fixture with Clattenburg at the Lane ?

I'm sure its just a coincidence that Spurs never seemed to get flagged for various blatant offsides in that fixture, while today Mr Clattenburgs assistant couldn't wait to get the flag up everytime Kun was running onto a through ball.
Interestingly Sky failed to provide replays of most of the tight calls against us, but on the one occasion they did Sergio was clearly level, and the defender playing him on was directly in line with said official making it blatantly obvious that it wasn't offside.

I'm one of the last to go in for all these conspiracy theories but there was something rotten in Dansk today.

Having watched it several times over, the only thing I can see that may indicate it hit the arm is Sterling's arm moving up after contact.

However, Sterling's arm was already moving up and from all angles it shows it hit his back, under his arm.

Yes, you can argue that players should keep their hands and arms in to avoid any controversy, but the fact is that it is just not natural to jump like that, and if we punished every such decision then penalties would be commonplace.

Ultimately, it didn't hit is arm and so we are left either the reality that the referee guessed, or he wanted to give a penalty against city.

I won't suggest which I believe. But it is interesting also to hear Harry Kane in his post match interview saying the referee wasn't sure whether it was inside or outside the box until the spurs players argued their case.

Lastly, bloody sickening to be lumping out that kind of money watch a game of football, which ultimately was decided by a wrong decision. We had two good teams going at it today, but as a spectacle I have come away feeling like I have wasted my money. Not because of us, our effort or tactics, but because of a decision that really had no basis in reality. Sure, if you're spurs then who cares I guess.

Onwards and upwards blues. We've come back from worse.

I think I may have posted something about this previously, see newspaper articles below from February 2009 and October 2014
I have heard rumours that a certain referee owed a sum of money to a bookmaker.

Mark Clattenburg has successfully appealed against his sacking as an elite referee and has been reinstated as a Select Group Referee. His sentence has been commuted to an eight month ban.

The 33-year-old was dismissed last month following a disciplinary inquiry held by the Professional Game Match Officials limited - the body in charge of referees - for "issues relating to his private business affairs". But the Premier League have confirmed that Clattenburg successfully challenged that decision, with an appeal panel ruling that he should be handed a less severe punishment.

Clattenburg has, therefore, been banned for a period of eight months, backdated to start on 6 August 2008 - the date of his original suspension. He will be eligible to return to refereeing duties on 6 April.

A statement from the PGMO read: "Mark Clattenburg has been reminded of his responsibilities and contractual obligations as a Select Group Official, particularly in regard to full disclosure of any outside business interests. PGMO is confident that he has the ability to regain his position as one of English football's top officials."

Clattenburg had been due to take charge of last August's Charity Shield clash between Manchester United and Portsmouth but was replaced by Peter Walton when accusations were made that he had allegedly threatened a business associate in an email. The official, who ran his own electrical firm, denied all the claims made against him.

The FA has suspended Mark Clattenburg from refereeing any Premier League games this weekend after he travelled alone to West Bromwich Albion's 2-2 draw with Crystal Palace last Saturday.

According to reports, Clattenburg made his way by himself to The Hawthorns so he could head back to Newcastle quickly after the match in time to attend an Ed Sheeran concert that evening at Metro Radio Arena.

FA rules state that referees must travel with their assistants to and from games for security and integrity purposes, leaving the Association with little choice but to punish the official for breaking protocol.

It's also alleged that Clattenburg spoke to the Crystal Palace manager, Neil Warnock, while in his car after the match - once again contravening Premier League standards.

Make your own minds up.
