Mark Clattenburg

Lol, with all this supposed "Corruption" and our sheik having all of the money in the world, then why dont we buy the ref, or the season? When we win the prem is it because the refs were corrupt?

Get a sense of perspective guys, Clattenburg was a nob, he shouldnt have give the penalty, it was a bad call, no consistency, poor decision etc , not bought Lol

Personally, I would like to see poor poor decisions like that punished, he should be moved down a division until he learns to err on the side of caution, dick

Why would we ? Just because there may be corruption around doesnt mean you have to join in. Corruption has been admitted in almost all the major sports around the world, and at the very highest level in football. Its beyond naive to assume it couldnt possibly be a problem.

He cannot be allowed to ref us again, surely? The only problem that presents is that the rest of them are just as crap.

I honestly thought that with the shite we have had over the last few games - Jones, East, Madeley and Pawson - he would bring some even-handedness to a match! Jeez, how wrong can you be!

I don't think that PL referees are corrupt and that their performances are based on the exchange of 'certain emoluments', but they are clearly dishonest in their application of the Laws, and we seem, this season to be getting half the Leagues' shit decisions! If it evens itself out over a season, which I don't support(!), we should be due a range of oppo bookings to match the one Vinny got yesterday and a few games where the penalities are queuing up.

Don't usually buy into the conspiracy theories regarding referees but at what stage do continual 'honest mistakes' become incompetence and at what stage does continual incompetence become something more sinister?

Clattenberg is supposed to be an elite referee, I'm sorry but there is no way on earth an elite referee should make that kind of error, it defies logic. Graham Poll has apparently suggested that Clattenberg "guessed". I don't know what the procedure is now following that sort of decision. When whoever receives the assessor's verdict on his handling of the match is he then called in to answer why he thought it was a penalty? Is there any sort of repercussions for his performance?

Finally, my lad bumped into Dermott Gallagher in Chorlton a couple of months back, he described Clattenberg as a 'show pony'.

It was mentioned yesterday about the media and their influence on things like this and its spot on. If he makes that call yesterday against the rags lets say, he gets nailed in a trial by media and he knows it. The fact he knows it makes sure he doesnt ever make that call.

He makes it against us because its all fair as far as the media are concerned. Nothing is being said or made about such a farcical decision and he is sat there this morning not giving a fuck, safe in the knowledge his career is safe.

Do you think it would be safe had he made a call like that against the rags or any other sky 4 side?

Agree and exactly my point yesterday we need to start getting the media on our side. The media outcry when Balotelli apparently stamped on Parker went on none stop for a week and ended up the FA reviewing it and giving a ban out. All because this was the media love childs Spurs. We need somebody to come out of the club and say it as it is. Alright saying what Pelle said but somebody needs to come out and highlight what Clattenburg is about and that is one corrupt ****. Using those exact words will then stir the press up.

I realise I'm probably in the minority. But I don't blame Clat. He's poor. He guesses. But the FA know that. They're to blame. You want the corruption / turn a blind eye angle you need to look at the organisation.

Fully agree with this. Its not just the sky4 though, look at the uproar for days after the Everton game when they got a line call wrong by about a millimeter. You know straightaway when a ridiculous decision goes against us, it hardly warrants a mention. We are though our own worst enemy, the longer the club don't kick up a fuss, the more of these decisions we will go against us. Officials know we are soft, and with the bulk of the media against us anyway, they know they can get away with it.

There is one club in this country right now that can be royally screwed over and fuck all will ever be said.....just one!

Exactly this, compare what's happened to us, with a premier league title at stake, with the wall to wall coverage of the ball that may have gone over the dead ball line when we played Everton. Let's not forget that decision was widely acknowledged that the linesman or referee would have struggled to see in real time.

The thing is it's not even infrequent that we are getting these horrendous decisions. Look at the penalty decisions we didn't get at Leicester or against Everton at Goodison. We've already been discussing these non sensical decisions and then this! It beggars belief. Nobody has really mentioned Leicesters third goal last week where Huth basically used Di Michelis as leverage to jump and head the goal. We're so immune to this stuff that we don't even make a song and dance about things like that. I don't for one second think it's Far East corruption but I do think it's the referees looking after their careers and knowing what's best to protect them. I have no idea why its our success that they wish to stunt other than our owners being too big and powerful and the premier league becoming fearful of losing control of their 'product'.

Whilst I don't know why or how it manifests itself it is still corruption and in essence making a mockery of the word 'sport'

Tbh I would throw the towel in but I refuse to let these b*stards take this sport away from me having grown up with the bug for 30 years. Instead. I will continue to try and expose these blatantly corrupt decisions and hope that our team through sheer will have the power to overcome as they did in 2012 & 2014. I just see it as the different rules we have to overcome to win.

That lino v EFC in the C1Cup was never in line with the play as Sterling 'strayed' dangerously near to the line! He could have 'guessed' he was over but guessing is not part of the Laws. Crappenberg, were we to see, and it's technically feasible, the view from where he was standing, could only have guessed at what happened, and he relies on the PL, The Farce and PiGMOL to back up one of their own when controversy erupts.

The campaign "Respect the Referee" is one of the biggest farces ever foisted on a sport.
