These 'clear cut' decisions are the ones that make folk wonder the most. It seems obvious to all and sundry bar the lino that a player is in an offside position. It's not as thought the offsides are coming at the rate of ten a minute. When I did a bit of lining it was a simple situation - eye and brain engage and the rest is pretty automatic! It makes me wonder endlessly what aspect of the brain messages inside a linos head are getting priority!

The Kyle Walker offside at The Lane beggars belief, and the obvious question should be raised with the lino at the end of the half - What the fuck were you looking at when there is an attacking player three yards offside, right under yer fuckin' nose?

That was my take on the offsides at WHL as well. The first one looks obvious to us in freeze frame but being kind to the linesman it was a good through ball and the attacker times his run from behind the defender. The free kick offside though is completely different. He has a simple job to look along the line as the free kick is being taken. It wasn't even close a good two three yards offside. That goal also made it 3-1 and pretty much finshed the game.

If you see a freeze frame of that free kick the linesman is watching the kick and not even looking along the line!

As soon as that ball was played I called offside. Even from my armchair with the camera angle it was obviously offside. He was looking somewhere else when he should have been looking down the line and his vision, which if you are looking straight ahead takes in a substantial amount of a football ground, should have clocked the pass forward. His mind was somewhere else - or it is something a little more sinister!

Mirror reporting he has been stood down for this weekends games & also being investigated re his involvement with players and after dinner speaking....mans a prat!

He won't be out for long. Give it another week, till everything blows over and back he'll come, a poncing.

Mike Riley, impartial, honest and not at all biased.

He wasn't fit to ref a sunday league game, let alone be in charge of the countries top refs.

Jesus, just how many decisions can one man get "wrong" in one game.

I've never seen that refereeing performances but yeah I agree. You simply have to walk off after that. Reyes could have ended up with a 12 month injury after that systematic hacking on the same ankle. Absolutely disgusting and the Sky commentary says it all. Disgusting from the scum

Remember the scum taking it in turns to hack SWP at a home derby. IMS the ref booked the forth person to assault him, united were happy to see their plan work perfectly.

Never took the corruption theory seriously - but 45min research and how the hell did Riley get the top job for referees - and why is the issue never in the news - Keith Hackett, the former referees’ head has actually called for Riley to be removed, along with several high profile Refs - it's a shameful disgrace that debate of this issue is so muted.
