Mark Halsey

As much as it's ridiculous that they didn't discuss the ref the reason they didnt for those who don't actually know is because after last week a number of supporters started tweeting him and saying that 'they hoped him and his wife die of cancer'.

His is recovering from Cancer and his wife is seriously ill with it.

I think they didn't want to risk showing his poor performance and more fans taking similar action.

I can understand that - as annoying as it is.
That makes two of us with common sense. And Pam, if Foy was that pro-United he would have given that penalty.

There is nothing common sense about keeping an inept official in employment in the premier league who made shockingly bad decisions in consecutive games because he has an illness.

Halsey taken out of the firing line next weekend -no game for him. We've got Probert

And Chris Foy's punishment for the rags losing at the weekend?

Accrington Stanley vs Rochdale

And Fergiscum has recalled Howard Webb

If Halsey deserves demotion (and, although I don't believe that he is biased, he could hardly argue that he doesn't deserve demotion given the howlers in his last two games) what about Tony Cottee?
That man had the benefit of several slow-motion replays and yet, still managed to call it arseways.

I cannot believe that this is a fair system, not for one minute!

How do they select the refs?

I think there is a site that you can follow which ref's have refereed which games. I would love to see how many times Webb has had United in the last three seasons.

Is there anywhere we can question how the decisions are made? Surely all referees shoulc (more or less) referee each side an equal number of times?

The only way Utd can come from a defeat, get in place the man who'll give them a penno. It'll also then be "Justice for the Newcastle pen at Utd last season...".

Read in an article that someone had posted on a thread here that in his whole referee'in career he's given 18% of his pen's to Utd. Get your money on a Utd pen/Newcastle red.

Yet if Webb was pro-United, he wouldn't have given Balotelli a last minute penalty v Spurs, because obviously that penalty being converted would hinder United and benefit us.
Have you ever thought that those 18 penalties he gave were infact penalties, and that because he is a good ref he has been asked to ref alot of United's games because they're the most high profile/intense?
