Mark Hughes: I compromised my own values at Man City

Still don't mind Hughes and I hope he gets a good reception at COMS. One thing I will say, he doesn't half love himself.

Ir was pure individual errors that cost and that's not down to coaching.

Echo the other sentiments as well that he conveniently skips past buying RSC and Lescott.

The big clubs were queueing up for him to be their new manager....

Exactly mate if he was so "compromised" why did'nt he resign!! at least then he would of got a lot more respect from people instead of bleating in the papers about his record.And him having a sly shot at Mancini for the football we are playing,the games at boro,west brom etc i must have imagined how dour they were fuck off hughes!!!!

Playing errors you mean? Did you watch that abysmal match at Spurs? A 36 year old left back and Robinho as the covering left midfielder against Aaron Lennon - even on FM you wouldn't select that as a serious line-up!

I will give you that one but that was after he knew he was out. And believe me he did know he was out before that game rather than that being what caused it.

So let me get this right. You are saying that because he knew he was going to get sacked, rather than pick a side to get a result and make it difficult for him to be sacked, he selected that weak left side because he'd given up?

I'm not sure where to start with that.

By the way, you do remember our abysmal away record and failure to beat Burnley at home don't you? Please don't try and re-write history and make out that it was only individual mistakes that cost him his job. He played very exciting football at home, we were usually awful away, and he and his team had no idea how to set up a team which was solid in midfield and at the back.

Going back to the interview, I'm glad he thinks he could set up a team in the Champions League. It shows he's even more deluded than I gave him credit for.

I've been brought up on 4 4 2 in this country and don't think it's as dead as you think when the two in midfield are good enough. Against the weaker sides this season I reckon Milner and a fully fit Ya Ya could do the job fine.

HOWEVER....Hughes played 4 4 2 on many occasions with De Jong and Barry in the middle and it destroyed my soul.
 
The least he could do for us hepling him to get that cosy little number at Fulham is bid about £17 million for RSC come January!

Mind you he's welsh , and he might just be one of those who doesn't like a Turkey for Christmas ...
 
great post,who can forget the constant whining everytime we were totally abject away from home in his 1st season before xmas, about him needing the"tools" to allow him to do his job.Fast forward to the end of the season after he had brought 4 players in january had it improved had it balls!!! all this shite about the great football we played under Hughes is a total myth the only reason it looks that way is the diabolical way we defended under him.

How does he know it's made him a better manager? What proof does he have of this? He's managed a handful of games since then and not got particularly great results, so how can he say he's a better manager?

If it was 10 years down the line and his managerial results had improved since his time here then yea, he could point back and say that his time at City made him a better manager, but he's no right to say it now. For all anyone knows right now his time at City could have made him even more stubborn and an even worse manager than he was when he was here

haha I just love the way some are just so easy to wind up and let go on anything Hughes related. It's so funny and sad at the same time how some come alive when there is a thread on him.

Apparently in economics, competitive markets find their own level...if this is also true of managers then Mark should feel at home at mighty Fulham....

Do you remember Mark Bowen saying that he thought that the the midfield was City's strongest area under Hughes? Says a lot that.
