Mark & Lard

No, I'm talking in the late 90s early noughties when they was on the traditional radio one channel. They got fucked off to wherever and I never tuned in again.
yeah mate, brilliant on radio 1.
Mark now does a show with stuart Maconie. Sat/sunday mornings 8am til 10. Nowt like the old stuff but a good laugh sometimes.
Lard does late night music show 8 til 10.

Didn't know they were working together again.

During the 90's, for me, a staple daily diet as we had Radio 1 on at work, from their breakfast show stint, but mostly their afternoon show, they were fantastic - Fat Harry White and Missing Words spring to mind immediately, but there was so much more (that my currently drunken head cannot remember!!)
Excellent radio entertainment.

Only person who’s ever got anywhere near being as entertaining was Shaun Keaveny, but Radio 6 (which has turned into a load of shite during the day now) axed him.

Still plenty to enjoy on 6 Music, but there seems to be a tendency to force music more suited to urban hoody wearing teenagers into some playlists.

I used to listen to Radcliffe and Maconie, usually on the way home from work, when they were on weekday afternoons, but I was never near a radio on weekend mornings, and now I listen to Boom all the time.

Great thread this. Presently on hols in Mar Menor in Murcia. Had a gallon of white wine this afternoon being tickled listening to the old missing words on youtube. Good laugh

The best radio show of all time.

I can remember exactly where I was for that final "Stop". (Just north of J20 on the M5 heading south).

Missing Words, Fat Harry White, Ace of Bass, London's Not Burning, Beat the Clock, Downcount, Lard's Animal Sanctuary... the list goes on.

Lard's Classic Cuts as well, with the brilliant "Mull of 'f'kintyre" the highlight. Had me in stitches

How they got away with some of it I will never know.

Always seemed like funny guys with great chemistry having a laught had me in stitches a good few times although I didn't get to hear them too much, remember them hosting a football league years type programme on the BBC years ago going through many years 70s onwards, one episode was when we were pipped by the dippers in 1977 but can't find anything at all about this show they presented.
(I'm sure it was them)

Also remember them unveiling and modelling the City Kappa kits when they first came out back in the day, they had an interview in the official club magazine in 1997 about being blues their famous DJ work and other stuff... Was begining to think I imagined the last one as it took me ages to find this picture online from the mag.

Used to own all the mags until the mid 2000s along with hundreds of match day programs, some of the programs were quite old but all had to go due to water damaged.
