It is maybe a stretch on my part to suggest M&S would have known what thet were doing, in an advertising effect capacity.
What I don't think is in the slightest bit a stretch, is that the media know exactly what they are doing and how they present this to their audiences.
Wokeism and snowhflakery reactions aside, they will know fine well some will take this little non event as an 'attack' on christmas, tradidions, uk ways and values etc. And they will happily watch it happen. 'christmas advert pulled due to complaints'. 'tradidional colours unacceptable' - the hats were traditionally gold to represent crowns, and now come in any colour imaginable. They will milk it for every click and rage-share they can get from it. And embedded adverts that come with it. Intentional or not, it is now one big PR stunt.
