This lad looks the real deal. Will be excited to hear this one come off. Kelechi, Sterling, Moreno, Roberts, Sane, Brahim, Sancho, etc etc we could be set for a long time in attack

Great news.

Wonder how long he has been playing without a break. Not sure when South American League dates run from/to.

Is it likely that he will go/join up on the pre-season tour to China?

Good news that the deal is done. Strange that we're pulling him from the Olympics squad. Can only mean that we want to look at him in pre season rather than loaning him straight out.

I would much prefer having him & Zinchenko available as options for the first team squad along with the most viable of our kids. If we find they aren't being used, loan them out in Jan.

Having young fast skillful wild card players to put in the team or off the bench is much more exciting for the crowd & the oppo don't know them.

I agree....surely it would make sense to have them stay with us for pre-season and maybe if they not ready for the 1st team squad, look to loan them out in Jan....would be nice to see them given a chance to show something before they just go out on loan for a year or two..

Does this signing mean Navas will be sold?

We still not sure what Pep's plans are for Moreno.....could still be loaned out but personally I'd like to see him given a chance to stay in pre-season....If he stays and with Navas on final year of his contract, we might try to get something for thing this summer but at the moment it looks like he'll be in the squad come start of the season..

A little something from tim Vickery

Colombia coach Jose Pekerman would seem to agree – Moreno is not in his country’s U-23 squad that will shortly face the USA in a play-off for a spot in the Olympic tournament – because he has been named in the senior squad for this month's 2018 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.

Of course, it is very early to pile on the praise. Moreno is enjoying that golden, fearless phase when nothing goes wrong.

He is part of a good team, a solid unit with experienced players such as Victor Ibarbo to help him. Coach Reinaldo Rueda is a youth development specialist. Everything is working in his favour.

There will inevitably be reverses ahead. No career is complete without them. The true test, always, is bouncing back after the failures.

For the moment, though, it is all triumph and glory, with the player recently declaring his aim to be better than his illustrious compatriot Faustino Asprilla.

Can he cope with the expectations that he is helping to pile upon himself? Will he remain as committed once the big money starts rolling his way?

As mentioned above, there are no guarantees but not since the likes of Sergio Aguero, Alexis Sanchez and Neymar have I been so enthusiastic about a young player.

He must not have seen Gabriel Jesus then!

We have been lacking that extra edge in the first team pretty much since the takeover imo. We have won stuff with great players, but that extra buzz the crowd gets from a young kid coming on & terrorising the oppo, has largely been missing.

It's an extra weapon to have & the rags etc have been utilising it for years whilst we haven't.

If kids are obviously not going to figure, & need games then of course loan them but the best ones, just play them.

may I remind you what happened to Memhis Depay, and Januzaj. The rags utilised it because they were forced to and it worked in some cases - not in others.

Wonder how a 19 year old from Colombia will settle in England.

Hope City have plans to ensure he is not home sick etc

May I remind you that they won many titles cups & a couple of Champions Leagues & in every single case utilised kids iin the squad. Some of whom were nowhere near good enough long term. Didn't matter.

Just thinking of number of foreign players. Limited to 17 I think.
