Marriage and City...

We booked our wedding for a Sunday in September the year before. Everyone said "in the season!?" but given the odds of landing a big game on the Sunday, I was happy enough that it'd be fine.

Fixtures came out and sure enough the derby at the swamp was on my wedding day. Kick off bang in the middle of the ceremony.

It was the 4-3 in 2009, with Bellamys goals, and the little scouse shit scoring in Fergie time.

Guess which game was voted as the best prem lg game ever by MOTD? (although clearly that should have been red dippers v barcodes)

Honestly I'm fine about it now, no really, it's FINE...

First wife divorced me and named City in the divorce papers and the fact that according to her, i put the club and going to matches before our marriage lol.

Too fucking right i did, silly cow.

some great posts on this............reminds me when my now wife had tried to tie me down(no we dont do bondage) for years and i was having none of it!(had my fingers burnt once) but i stood firm on this!!.......however as men we cant hold out for ever,so i only agreed to the wedding on one condition that i could wear my city shirt to get married in......she is now my wife but understands her position regarding city .........ctid

.....is that Sheba the dirty dog from off topic you have under your arm?.....

My story is a bit similar to the OP.

I have been with my girl for 8 years.
When she used to pester me about marriage in the earlier days (when we were shit) I remember joking that we will get married when City win the league ie it will never happen.

Well, how things change, I had forgotten about this and planned to pop the question part way through the season (nothing to do with City being top). I bought the ring when we had fell behind United and I was dreading having a shit summer after we had thrown the league away.

Her birthday is the 15th May I had booked for us to go to Cologne on the 14th and planned to do it on her birthday on the cable care above the Rhine.

It so happens that we went on to win the league and I did ask her to marry me and she said 'yes'.

A few people have asked me about if I did it cos City won the league, including her, but it was a mad coincidence.

Now I wish I had of planned to ask her 6/7 years ago so we might have won the league then, with Dunney lifting the trophy!!! haha
