Just been reading about this. It's a one way trip to Mars is being planned for a human settlement. Due to leave in 10 years they have whittled down a list of 200,000 hopefuls to around 705. There will be a reality tv show to select the final 20-40 with viewers picking the "winners" funded by the firm who make Big Brother.

Modern day explorers or a bunch of loons joining a reality show like no other? only time will tell but you'll not be able to take your eyes off it once it starts to air next year.

I'm going to throw out the wild theory that the people chosen by a TV company for a TV show possibly aren't the most suited to start a settlement on Mars. I would go further and say there's a very real chance they'll all die.

I take these are going to be people appropriately trained, physically able and psycho analysed.
