One of the few periods of the season where we can give some academy lads a nod in a proper game (I.e not league 1 cannon fodder) and essentially risk free environment and Pep can’t bring himself to start one of Doyle, Palmer etc

I wasn’t expecting a team full of them, but zero reason to be playing someone like Mahrez tonight who’s been one of our most played players recently.

Surprised to see Walker, Laporte and Mahrez, I had assumed they would be lining up against the Rags.

Stronger than I expected — seems Pep is taking a “keep more fringe players fit and give time to a few recently returning from injury whilst only resting several key players and bring on the youth in the second half” strategy.
