Pardon my ignorance but what is the relationship between Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan and Sheikh Mansour?

Great news for Marseille in any case if this has substance
I think that's his dad

Well I hope Marseille's dosh isn't coming out of Sheikh Mansour's pocket money.

I doubt that, his dads dead

It's not his dad, it's his half-brother

Sheikh Mansour is the half brother of the Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan.

MSP beat me to it! Was reading wiki too, haha.

I was under the impression that our Sheikh was in some way, shape or form, was 'in charge' or certainly had a big say in the investment of the ruling family's wealth.

I'm partly thinking like lancs blue that some of this investment in Marseille might somehow detract from our own finances if Mansour's half brother buys into them.

Are there any masterminders o here with more in-depth knowledge on who manages the Emirati finances? lol

Very very strong rumours around in France that a group from United Arab Emirates royal family are about to buy Marseille. The current ruler of UAE is Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan. Very familiar name that ... :)

Surely Platini wouldnt allow another French club to become minted..I detect a bit of family teamwork going on to fook him off.

As I understand it, the rules would not allow this to happen?

There is strict protocol in terms of a conflict of interest, the very real possibility of teams meeting each other in competition, related parties.

Sheikh Mansour's half-brother is up to his neck in City, regardless of what others might suggest.

Cast your minds back to Mancini's thank you speech at the Etihad after we paraded the FA Cup, the ruler was officially recognised.

Udinese owner is owner of some Championship or League 1 team, there are 10 Udinese players on loan there (read about it in Martin Samuel's article on DM fe days ago)

PS. it's Watford and he is owner of Granada in Spain too so it's definitely allowed even for same individual.

It is bit strange but it's allowed.

The difference is that Watford and Granada are highly unlikely to be in UEFA competition any time soon. City and Marseille could well be in the same CL group next season.
