Old head, experienced back up. Earned it so far. As long as we continue to look for younger talent it won't be a problem.

Glad for the one year extension nice to see we have another decent defender in him and Kompany. Also good to keep the pressure on Mangala if he makes any huge errors. Glad to see him get the extension he was important figure in defense in the latter stages of the Premier League. Although he's a great defender in our squad I'd give him a additonal year on the extension and then start to look for some younger, faster, and hungry academy players like Denayer, Plummer, and Rekik be nice to give them a run of chance in the first team. Think he should get two more years and he needs to be out to promote our views on our world class academy to bring young players in the first team.

Mangala still needs experience and to learn, what finer defenders could he have than DM and vinny. Should be the most solid defence around.

I think it's a good risk/reward. We are not exactly breaking the bank with him and he is excellent cover should Kompany get injured or Mangala lose form. Proven solid performer and a great team man.
