Martin Demichelis (continued)

Think he hinted that he eventually wants to play in USA so another one for NYCFC in a couple of years time?

Fully deserved for me, had a very good season for us, despite a few early mistakes he settled well in the end, those of us that cared to watch could see he was the right player, it just needed time in the PL.

Not sure what games you were watching to say you could see he was the right player as he put In some pretty horrific performances. Hull game he turned it around after vinnie getting red cared. Was that luck or by design?

I watched all the games, even the ones he made mistakes when he was getting to grips with the PL, I never thought he wouldn't come through for us, because even with the mistakes he showed quality that many refused to see, one of them being his coolness under pressure, he was caught out early on by the pace of our league (like many), but he adapted to it.

Plenty of others have come here from foreign leagues, and looked average at times at the start, some have never looked like making it, he always looked like a quality footballer to me, he just needed to be given time to adjust to the huge difference between Spain and England, all new players need that time.

I also judged for myself, rather than listening to Hanson et al.

Aside from having to adapt to the speed he also may have had to adapt to play on the left of defence. It was usually on the left side that he was getting caught out until he adjusted.

sweet. Hull away, he was a master of defensive organisation after vinnie's early red.
Sing it brother.

Exactly - prior to the media-stoked furor against him he was quite good as a rule other than against So'ton away, Cardiff home, and maybe that first Chelsea fixture (where of course Nasty had the major howler.)

What I noticed early on was that his passing was quite off a couple times per match. Not unusual when adapting to a new side, of course.

I sort of wonder as to the epidemiology of the whole "MDM is shite" nonsense. I halfway think that traitorous fuckwit Niall Quinn (who seemed particularly to dislike him) started on about this during a UCL telecast. And then all the other media types latched on to it for fear of seeming as if they were not properly insightful.

Another guy who ridiculously over-criticised MDM was that one twat who used to play for Fulham back in the 70's/80's. Can't remember his name but he was co-commentator on a couple of matches and just would not stop with that nonsense. That guy was smashing MDM relentlessly during our Fulham 5-0 win. In a match where a lot of people had him as MoTM!

As long as there is gas in his legs, he continues to develop and show up for City, MDM is welcome to fight for his place in the shirt. But, should a younger, homegrown player be available... I'd happily shift MDM onwards.
