Martin Samuel appreciation

If you are a fan of Newcastle, Everton, Wolves, Tottenham, any club thinking big but currently on the outside looking in, you should cheer this victory from the rafters. If this leaves UEFA's FFP regulations damaged, it means you still have a chance.

The elite don't want you to have a chance. They think all the tomorrows should belong to them.
OOF!

The fact that you feel you have to give this its own thread speaks volumes.

Nearly all of the rest of the footballer writers’ world have been drowning in their own sea of diarrhoea for years and years. Barely a handful ever speak objectively and next to none of them are interesting.

Martin Samuel shouldn’t need to be lauded by us, he’s just doing a decent job. But we feel we have to laud him because he’s one of the only ones who does just do his job.
He's just doing his job and being fair, without an agenda. It's all you can ask and its all we *should* expect from journalists.

One small area of concern I was not previously aware, until reading that article:
"WERE THE PREMIER LEAGUE NOT ALSO INVESTIGATING CITY?
Yes, over alleged financial and youth recruitment issues. They have similar FFP rules and it will be interesting to see their next move.
The Premier League does not have a statute of limitations and will be loath to dismiss the work already undertaken, which is said to be substantial. Regardless, CAS's finding will do City no harm."

PL are waiting for the details from CAS before deciding but hopefully they may drop the ffp aspect?

the premier league investigation into man city was on the back of the uefa ban and CAS verdict ? city was cleared so i would think the premier league will back off and don't get involved because, they (premier league) will know city are not messing about anymore and will take on anybody

yesterday win is just starting sinking in and will be bigger than winning the champions league itself

manchester city now have a tic sheet and can now cross off the things and add another page of things to do, this win at CAS will open the gates and a storm called manchester city will blow in and demand a place on the board and a vote on the board of uefa, we are not talking about the tea lady job ? we will want the vice chairman seat and the major casting vote and demoting the so called elite

if you think about it manchester city have been setup and ready for this for years everything is in place, from the chairman, manger, players, fans, everything is there and the missing link was the power and control / the control to buy who we want for any price a messi or ronaldo £200 million and no questions asked, the FFP rules are long time gone ? manchester city turnover is the best in the world and debt free and also in profit wow

how many can say their club is debt free and in profit on the uefa board ?? the best run club in the world and now just won the biggest battle in world football , manchester city can you please stand up and take your place at the top of the table
Blimey Ancoats, glad to see the gloom has lifted.;)

With the boss of the premier league being interviewed by Livarpool and united before being given the job, dont hold your breath. The hateful 8 led by these two will now be putting pressure on him to instigate proceedings. The media will have another two years of hate to adorn their articles. Bring it on.

Martin Samuel is just about the only main stream journalist with the courage and integrity to tell the truth about FFP, as opposed to following the cartel herd. All the more creditable when you consider how rabidly anti City the Mail is. For Martin alone I hope West Ham stay up - I think!
