That's what I find confusing about this. I assume Bobby wants a deep play making CB like Thiago. I do think Skrtel is a step up from Lescott (I know that isn't a popular point on here) but I don't think he is the kind of CB Bobby is looking for. I say we go all out for Silva. With him we have a CL winning back 5.

Silva would be ideal, but signing him from AC Milan would be extremly difficult.

Money talks. If they are asking for 40 mil, I would expect they may take 35. For me that is worth it to have the best defense in the League and one of the top 2-3 in all of Europe. If somehow they would take Tevez and 10 mil, that would be immense for the club.

On reflection I can actually kinda see this one happening. I think Lescott would accept a rotation/squad role. He probably expected that to become the case at some point when he joined a club with the ambitions and financial abilities of ours. I don't think he's the sort to spit the dummy out at all.
