City have tried to answer back with City Square but the open air setting isn't too comfortable. I just wish the atmosphere could transfer across the road to the stadium. Some games eg 06/07 it was the only reason to go the match. I've been in the Townley a few times but just got into the habit of going Mary D's. If there was a pub within reasonable distance that sold a good pint of real ale, I'd go there.
You can't compare Mary D's with City Square. Mary D's is great before a game. You can get pissed, smoke a couple of joints out the back, sing city songs along with a few choice anti united songs without fear of any sort of reprisal. City Square's not that type of venue.
