Mary D's landlord moaning about City Square

1. Its manchester fucking confidential, a dodgy telesales front of a website so who cares.

2. Some of the Mary Ds bashing is going way over the top - The backroom is full of City memorabilia, massive mural of maine road, scarves hanging everywhere, plenty of chants going and the service is always speedy. Yes the beer is shit but your all going way over the top. Its provided a good pre/post match atmosphere for blues for years now, how is that a bad thing? So it needs a lick of paint on the outside, why the fuck do you care? So he charges for parking on a matchday, why wouldnt he? every other business around there does, it would be stupid not to. Its nowhere near as bad as is being made out.

3. I quite enjoy Summerbees post match, but if you think listening to Hugh 'smarm' Ferris interview Danny Fanzone for half an hour is a stimulating post match experience then I'd beg to differ. I'm as excited as the next blue about the developments around the stadium but putting FFFP to one side its not all good for the matchday experience. I'd be gutted if a lot of the independent establishments that give matchdays character and allow traditions to form were suffocated by this behemoth project.

The stuff i could tell you about mary D from before city moved around there. Lets put it this way the cunts got a right nerve moaning saying city square effecting the local community. My mate used to live on turnpike walk and from his house you can see Marry D.

At one point in time a couple of years before city moved there nearly every bleeding weekend there was literally a riot. From that cunts customers coming out and kicking of with that lot from the cross roads. I'm not bullshitting you either im talking about cars getting turned over and burnt out and the place getting smashed up.

Then you've got the old school gangsters and all the fucking drug deals that used to go on in there. That pub is a fucking shithole has been for and long time and is a fucking blight on the local community.

I mean, it's great for pre match catch-ups and bantz and all the rest of it — but as everyone else has said, it's an absolute dive inside, serving warm pints of piss in paper cups.

I wouldn't go there again.

Look, I know it's not a popular viewpoint on here, but Hugh Ferris and Danzone Fanny do a job. They both bring different things to the table — Hugh the professional smarmy host role, and Danny as the fan we can all relate to.

Getting in front of a camera for an hour and a half a week and trying to entertain when half the crowd can't give a shit and the other half hate your guts because "you're a Rag" is not my idea of earning an easy quid.

Whilst I agree to an extent, the thrust of the criticism us the quality if the beer vs price charged. This and this alone is the reason I drink elsewhere. I have a mate in the ale trade and he is an out and out lush, however even he will not drink in there!

From a personal point of view, Phil is a good DJ and very much what you see is what you get. The Munich chants are a big no for me but the rest of his music is pretty good - but I am a sad old get!

If Kehoe improved the quality of his product and reduced his prices to be more in line with other boozers, he would more than likely find his custom increase.

I tend to go in Mary D's now out of habit more than anything else. City Square's okay when the weather's nice, but the al fresco driniking is less pleasant in Winter. If I remember rightly City Square was set up after feed back from fans who asked if Citycould provide something similar to Mary D's where the money would actually go to the club. I wish there was a decent real ale pub nearby, but I've had no luck so far. Talking of the inside, I wish he'd clear up all the graffiti left by the Luton fans who were in there for the Conference Play Off final at least.

Did Kehoe even own it before City moved to CoMS?? And if he did, it was only after City planned to move there......he saw an opportunity.

I had the misfortune of going in there pre City with a mate of mine who knew quite a few of these lads and i can tell you, i've been in some scary shitholes in my time, but i can't remember one worse than this.
