Mary Ds / trouble at The Townley

I’m not proud of it but I’ve been involved in trouble at some points and they’ve only really had a go at me when I was completely outnumbered, on my own or when they had twice as much as the group I was in.

We all have mate when I started going it was hard to completely avoid it as there was trouble at every game.

I was in the corner shop pub. About 40 Utd fans turned up out of no where. They shut the pub in seconds, metal shutters went up and they completely locked it down. Loads were trapped inside trying to get out to help those caught outside. Some people ended up outside and they were well outnumbered. My mate got punched a few times but he was alright, but he was shook up though.
I don’t think anyone was hurt from what I could see afterwards, but I got told a Utd fan got completely KOed by some old geezer.

I am not sure if I am the older fella (56) or not but me and my son were walking down the path to the Townley to meet mates when the shithouses came from a side entrance and said "are you City", what all two of us?.

I have a broken jaw but my son fell, hit his head on the floor and was knocked out.

It was the scariest few minutes of my life as it seemed like an eternity before he came round.

Thankfully he seems to be ok but has been kept in hospital for observation.

I didn't think it was possible but I fuckin hate the red bastards even more today than yesterday.
I hope that you and your son are feeling a bit better today. It’s disgusting that two people go out to a football match and come home injured, or in your son’s place, get kept in hospital.
The horrible little toe rags, it’s a football game for goodness sake.
Was it reported to the police? Not that they’ll do much about it unfortunately.

I hope your son is home today and is ok.

This might not go down well in some quarters but plenty of football hooligans do actually abide by an unwritten code of conduct where attacks like this on innocent fans are strictly off limits.
I think this might be one of the quarters you are referring to @M18CTID

I know I’m old and a woman but I just do not understand the ‘unwritten code of conduct where attacks on innocent fans are strictly off limits’ why would anyone go out looking for a fight? Why would anyone go out looking to possibly get injured themselves? Why, just why?
I saw it in the past and just couldn’t understand it then, I see it now and understand it even less. We know more about what sort of injuries can be inflicted.

I’m sorry can anyone explain to me why people would go looking for this kind of trouble?
I’m not lumping you in with that mentality @M18CTID just asking the questions generally.

as a p.s. to my posting above. I was at Wembley, alone, for the rags v City cup game in 2011(?) and on my way back to the hotel after the game I was set upon by some rags trying to grab my bag. Luckily 2 policewomen spotted it and ran over. They grabbed the ‘fans’ and told me to carry on, they’d deal with it. After that I always stayed at a hotel close to Wembley no matter how much more expensive it was!

It was scary! :-( :-) but I survived uninjured.

They are one of the biggest shitbag fanbases in the country, walked to the ground from town without a single copper in sight, only as you near the ground they start trying to give it out knowing the police will come in and save them. Even then they will only bother if theyve got numbers on you 10 vs 2 etc.
A load came off the Met and walked through City Sqaure screaming at families calling them cunts and calling women slags who were just sat there eating some fish and chips.

Me and the lads used to sing this at them years ago. It’s not very politically correct anymore, mind:

“Here come the Men In Black,
they're the so called "Stretford Enders".
Here's the fearsome Men In Black,
punching women, kids n pensioners
They are the Men In Black,
they have fashion conscious members.
They are wearing black bin bags,
and they're a bunch of fuckin benders”

Oh I know I've been going since the sixties so had my share. I'd like to think at my age even the most feral rag rat would realise I'm not looking to fight the idiots but I doubt it. It's from a bygone age now and time it stopped.
Some United fans seem to be stuck in the '80s. And not just in a fashion way.
