Mass starvation in Afghanistan

I use the Newsnow aggregator for City news. They are asking for donations for Afghanistan on the basis of a humanitarian crisis. I have donated some money but feel sickened that the US UK and others spent billions on this war. They up and leave, and the poor people are left destitute relying on charities to help them. Where on earth is the sense in this ? Same happened in Iraq, WMD etc.
I used to have such a strong belief in Western democracy, but my beliefs are really now pushed to the limits.

They couldn’t have stayed forever, however surely they could have planned a better exit strategy? What we have left behind is a nightmare.

Absolutely not. The issue is why did they invade, and could the billions spent on the war have been more productively used ? This invasion stemmed from 9/11 if you remember.

So why not invade Saudi where all the terrorists were actually from?
Good documentary on bbc regarding Afghanistan and it’s history with the west, will open a few eyes regarding the war etc.

Because that was not where the training camps were, dont need a doco , i witnessed it all first hand

To appease their deaths really. Afghanistan was never the centre of terrorism, the war was to show retaliation. People didn’t care about the intel.

Kaz, I do understand but do you honestly believe the terror camps are now gone? So how many Iraqi's died in a war based on WMD,a false presumption, I would suggest more than 3000 ? The US supported putting Saddam Hussein into power !! As for Afghanistan, what has been achieved ? We are back where we started.
