It's sad stuff like this where average folk literally have to turn the other cheek, bury your head or whatever phrase you choose to use apply.

Nothing can be done. Does even making a donation make any sort of difference? Wouldn't surprise me if those donations get gobbled up to line the pockets of the suppressors.

Kaz, I do understand but do you honestly believe the terror camps are now gone? So how many Iraqi's died in a war based on WMD,a false presumption, I would suggest more than 3000 ? The US supported putting Saddam Hussein into power !! As for Afghanistan, what has been achieved ? We are back where we started.

Aren't humans just great at justifying doing nothing to help others, eh? There's always an excuse: 'The money won't even get there' etc. I wonder if we'd hear the same rhetoric if it was their own families who were starving to death.

I use the Newsnow aggregator for City news. They are asking for donations for Afghanistan on the basis of a humanitarian crisis. I have donated some money but feel sickened that the US UK and others spent billions on this war. They up and leave, and the poor people are left destitute relying on charities to help them. Where on earth is the sense in this ? Same happened in Iraq, WMD etc.
I used to have such a strong belief in Western democracy, but my beliefs are really now pushed to the limits.

Can you say for sure that any donation made by Joe public goes where it's needed? It could be doing more harm than good if it's going straight into the pockets of the suppressors.
