The game was a higher level than we have played this season. We held possesion well in first half and were dominant in possession,75 per cent.
We had players who had lapses Vinny on two occasions, Barry on the goal, Hart in goal, similiar to his Wigan lapse of concentration possession is vital in champions league and tonights opposition posed a big threat on the break. I thought injury was impacting on Nasri performance level through the game.
We went through a bad 15 mins prior to the scoring, despite prelonged debate between Manchini and Platt no changes were made when required, they scored from Barry losing possession, then we made the changes, which could/should have been made earlier, the goal was coming.
Kolorov scoreda peach when we needed it. Clichy came on and improved options, Johnson had a fair cameo. I do wonder if Barry has the pace for this CL.
I thought Lescott and Yaya really had top games, with JL the pick of our team. The opposition were well organised and difficult to break down, listed as my recollections for development and discussion by others, we all have different views that is why the game is so good

Pretty spot on to my view that... Sorely missed NDJ tonight he would have offered us the protection in front on back 4

Thought we lacked a bit of natural width tonight. Nasri or Silva arent wingers so maybe it wouldve been better to start with Richards and Clichy as the full backs. De Jong would definately of made a difference in the midfield during the spells when Napoli were on top and offered a bit of protection to the centre backs. Nasri was quiet and maybe shoulda been hooked a bit earlier. Having said all that I dont think we played badly tonight, we dominated for most of the 1st half and spells in the 2nd. Silva, Aguero and Dzeko didnt stop trying but didnt have much luck. We had plenty of efforts on goal, although accuracy wasnt great. All in all not a bad result and a decent performance.

PS. Tevez didnt look interested and he could do with losing a few pounds!

But both can play as such, in fact I believe Silva played LM for Valencia... Nasri has played on the right and both can deliver a cross, so why didn't they just switch sides when it was clear that cutting in onto their oposite foot wasn't working???

He wasn't on long enough to really judge but his heart didnt seem to be in it. Dont think the Amish look is really working for him either. Maybe he's got a barn raising on tomorrow and was saving his energy

City were bound to be a little nervous for this opening game. There is still the intensity every time we go forward, but Napoli defended well and gave us little room. Champions League is a completely different game to pasting the likes of Wigan or Spurs... Tevez did look like he was carrying a couple of roast dinners when he came on, but he'll be back to his best one day.

Nasri, Silva and Aguero were getting in each others way IMO. Nasri had a poor game.
No need to panic though, if you play poorer than usual then don't lose.

Dzeko MOTM for me, held onto the ball well, a few testing shots, rarely gave the ball away.

Don't we have a separate Post Match Discussion Thread specifically for this topic? Mind you, why it's not located in the Matchday Forum remains a mystery to me. Please sort this out, Mods.

@ Southaustralianblue - Eh? He played well for the 10 minutes he was on!

On another night we could have scored at least 4 but this is CL and it very rarely works out that way. Kompany was my MOTM closey followed by Lescott so that tells its own story. The players all looked a little nervous and were reluctant to shoot and tried to pass the ball in.
