Dave Ewing's Back 'eader

She was very good holding up play, but I think she needs someone up with her to capitalise on the possession she retains when there's a hoof from our back line. There were numerous times where she won the header, where it went into open space behind the LCL's back line and no one to take advantage. I'm wondering whether the difference between this season and last season is contained in the instructions that Jegerlitz has given her.Don't really understand some of the Shaw criticism. I think her final touch has eluded her so far this season but we have to stick with her and let her find her form. And she buried both of her pens today.
Surprised at the number of people criticising her body language when she always carries herself in that way during games whether shes playing well or not. If you watch the training videos she seems a really influential member of the squad and is enjoying herself at City
I agree shes nowhere near her best yet this season but I dont think its down to lack of interest. She's come off the back of 12 months severely disrupted by injury and she has a new role in a new system to get used to. The manager has correctly identified that we were way too reliant on her goals in the past and that using her as a focal point in attack made us much too predictable. She's being expected to do more deeper in the pitch and be part of the link up play and on the whole I think out approach play is looking better for it.
The depressing thing about today was a continuation of this mindset of passing backwards. 128 backward passes. There were umpteen occasions where the player on the ball could have carried it five or ten yards but decided a backward pass was in order. It puts no pressure on opponents as they don't have to do a thing. And some of the player out at the back is in the heart-stopping category. How many times did LBB get a pass facing her own goal with a brute bearing down on her?
