Match of the Day - 2016/17

Is there some rule I'm unaware of re. having to wear your away kit when at all possible? If not (and ignoring the marketing angle), why would Everton wear their away kit at Swansea? Their normal home kit is nowhere near clashing with Swansea's all white strip? Same with us at Boro last week; the kit we wore was more of a clash than if we'd worn our home kit.
It grinds me gears too. It must be a contractual requirement with the kit sponsor.

David Silva run the the show for City today with a masterclass of football wizardry against Palace but was earmarked by pundits stating Palace players didn't foul him. Why not just appreciate what a wonderful performance he gave without the nasty undertone?

Yet they wear their home kit of royal blue against us at our place (Chelsea too) yet we wear our away kit at Goodison (and Stamford Bridge)....
