They could have shown those, but then they wouldn't have had time to show the full 2 minute build up to the third goal. I think they made the right decision.
Surely they's no time limits on the hi-lights. What would of happened if we scored a 4th? But I was talking in general, the amount of times I've been at the game and we've had a penalty shout or a disallowed goal and MOTD have not shown it . It may of not been a penalty or the right decision about ruling out a goal , but still you want to see again.

Yes, there is. I think it's 6 minutes or something like that (might be wrong on the actual number), and I think there's a further restriction on televised matches, but I can't remember the specific details - Goals on Sunday have that problem too if one has been on BT. A good 2 and a bit minutes was taken up by showing the whole of the third goal, and personally I totally agree that was the more important thing to feature.

MoTD does have to pick and choose what to focus on because of the time constraint.

Edit: tried to look up what the number is and instead it came up with the time limit for match.com. Lol.

Aguero should have had one though, and Small thing should have had AT LEAST a yellow card. Lucky that Dave smashed it it.

I would bet a dollar to a dirham that had Dave not smashed it in we'd have not got the stoner for Smallthing dragging Sergio to the deck. Those were the decisions that the Alty Tit would have been waiting for, with the excuse that the certainty with which he awarded the Rag pen had not yet been ramped up to merchantable quality.

I watched the Ref after that and he had seen and signaled he played the advantage. We would have got the pen, not sure he'd have given Small Thing the red the laws say it would have merited. You could see he was relieved Silva took the problem away from him

So what would happen if we manager another 10 - 1 like the Huddersfield game from 1987 ? But I take your point about MOTD having to pick what they show and the 3rd goal was something special with the number of passes . But like I said, in general MOTD just don't show any penalty shouts or disallowed goal for us, even if the 3rd goal hadn't happened they wouldn't of shown the penalty shouts !

They'd pretty much be restricted to only showing the goals I suppose! I've got a vague recollection that the 6-3 v Arsenal more or less was only the goals.

I get your point, but I do think it's not always appreciated how hard it is to pack everything in to a short highlights package. There has to be some editorial judgement, and sometimes they skip items in the highlights themselves and refer back to them in the discussion afterwards. The problem with their time limitation is that they're trying to give an overview of the game, not detail every single event within it. Overall I think they do a pretty good job, and in the instance of last night, I was deeply impressed that they decided to use up a good chunk of their allotted time to show a goal like that in its entirety. That's as flattering to City as can possibly be, surely?

They will have a hard decision to make about how much they show when they’re doing Goal of the Month. If Goals A-G are 10 seconds each and Goal H is 2 minutes...
