It looks to me that we are concentrating on the Champions League and just don't fancy a tough game against either Chelsea or more likely Manure only a few days before the Real Madrid game.

At least twice the defenders and Eddie were motionless waiting for something to happen. So with Arsenal playing 3 up front that allows them to hassle the defence they shit it and play loose balls and Arsenal's mid two can push up and look for the misplaced passes which are happening too much. Move the ball quicker from the back, and don't pass it to Mendy!
