Started brightly, pressed well and dominated the first 15 mins or so. After that we faded badly. Our press dropped off and they could play through us with relative ease.

If Gonzalez can play a half, I'd be tempted to bring him on for Bernardo. Maybe Doku for Savinho too to give themn a different problem to deal with.

We're only one behind and there is still something in this game for us if we can sort our CM out. I still think we could get a win here but we'll have to improve on that first half performance.

Was saying exactly this to a mate last night. It’s not just Villa, it’s everyone and it’s bloody annoying. Brighton played like men possessed in that 2nd half against us; against United yesterday, apart from 10 minutes late on it was like they were already mentally in the pub.

We seem to have this effect on other teams where they raise their game but what’s more frustrating is we don’t seem to know what to do about it.

Because Stones joins Reijnders, Foden is not used in the build up.

And as we have seen time and again this season, Foden deeper is better for him and us.

All on Pep too. Awful setup. Reijnders has been here 5 months and I genuinely do not think I've seen him make a tackle in that entire time, so what the fuck has he seen from him in training to think playing him as the 6 is a good idea?

Bernardo Silva is the only player in our entire 5 man midfield who will make a challenge yet we've got him chasing defenders pointlessly, why isnt he in the pivot controlling the game?

We've got a front 5 that just run forward at half speed towards their backline, 1 simple pass see's them running out our back 4 exactly how it was when we were getting pumped by everybody we faced last season.

Get nico/kovacic on for reijnders, drop bernardo alongside him and get doku on for savinho and we might salvage something. I'll lose all hope if he sends that same side back out for the second half. Pep cannot watch that and not think a drastic change is needed right then.

I said in the pre match thread you can’t play Bernardo in midfield against McGinn and Onana. It needs a physical presence and legs like O’Reilly.

We’re still in the game just needs the right changes.

Not physical enough these days to start in the PL, less physical European games he looks better
