I don't actually think the system is the problem here. All the talk about players not playing in position is a bit naive - none of these players is playing in a position which is alien to them. The only real difference to how we normally set up is that instead of having Cancelo high up on the left and Bernardo wide right, we have Cancelo and Foden out wide and Bernardo as an extra man in midfield.
Our problem has been sloppiness. Giving the ball away constantly, allowing them to hit us on the break. Whenever we've had opportunities going forward, we've squandered them with a poor touch or bad decision. Cancelo, Foden and KDB most guilty of this.
Feels quite different to the first half at Anfield, where we played a similar system and really suffered. If we cut out the mistakes, there's goals in this for us.
