Some have mentioned how poor recruitment has been, and I largely ignored it and tried to stay positive and back the squad - injuries have hit us and our squad’s won 4 titles on the bounce, bound to happen I thought.

But I just had to pinch myself when I saw us with Nunes on the wing. And then with Savinho coming on. They’re not bad players - they’re very good. In fact, Nunes was great at Wolves; Savinho great at Girona. But that’s that - for a while we’ve been assembling a team of ‘big fish small pond’ players (e.g. Grealish) and whilst we got a lot of these decisions right, and I’m not sure there’s another way of sensibly building a squad in the financial fair play climate, we’ve reached a stage where I’m not actually confident looking at our lineup anymore.

I say this for two reasons:
(1) I’m persuaded we need to recruit aggressively.
(2) WHY CANT WE JUST PLAY FODEN / BERNARDO / GREALISH AS WINGERS. We won the Champions League that way. Nunes was never a winger, and Savinho’s best experience is bloody Girona!
It’s clear for all to see the clubs transfer policy is going to be different with the guy replacing Txiki , so obvious we have been saving a warchest for when he starts , great clubs / teams reinvent themselves and move on to more greatness , this was expected tbh , but maybe not as blunt and stark as this

He is better than Gundo currently
That is not a high bar - since I typed this he has lost possession cheaply again and failed to tackle their number 38 on what was yet anther great chance. Not his fault but he is not a central player fact.
