I was wondering what Pep would do with the left flank against the Salah and Trent combination. Gvardiol and Doku would be too attacking, Ake and Grealish would be too defensive. So he went for a balance of the two.

The platform is fairly solid but the touch and decision making in the final third has been off. Had that been better, we’d be three up based on our possession. We’ve had three 4 v 4 alone and made the wrong calls, so if we get another we’ll have to do better. Would be unhappy not to take all points from what we’ve produced so far.
