Good to see the Newcastle players support for their fans. They know how long it’s going to take to get home. Well done bar codes but that’s the only praise I’ll give you!!
The goals will flow. Just building up the overall fitness and match sharpness. Similar to last season's game Newcastle were dangerous but we were fairly comfortable.
We looked very solid defensively, had a really good shape about us.
Foden was outstanding, Rodri excellent first half, but looked a bit jaded second half. Kovacic looks like he's been here for years, really impressed with him. Gvardiol also has slotted in seamlessly.
The issue still remains though... The squad is far too small. We simply can't go through a whole season with the same players. We need a couple of new faces, absolutely, absolutely imperative.
I don't know how clear of a message Pep has to make to the board. Not even made a single sub in the whole game whilst Newcastle made 5. Had we drawn that game, it would have been completely down to the size of the squad and the players on the bench that Pep simply doesn't trust in these types of games.
The board simply has to deliver Pep the goods in the transfer market or else we will be running on fumes when it comes to the business end of the season. We can't have a high number of games this season where Pep doesn't make a sub or else we are going to pick up injuries left, right and centre.
Well that was class. Comfortably dealt with the 3rd best team in this league at the moment, with all the injuries, just superb. Phil Foden, fucking brilliant, just what we needed with no De Bruyne.
