I would class the ball as being played when it leaves the foot/head, not as clear as I originally thought though.

*The first point of contact of the 'play' or 'touch' of the ball should be used

I was just thinking earlier this side has a ball security and recovery that probably eclipses Barcelona - remembering that teams were not used to it at all in 2009, 12 years later to get the same results takes a lot more.
