I think it's appears like he's kicked out somewhat because he's actually been hit by their players boot and that's just a natural reaction to getting hit. Nothing but pure misfortune.

Problem these days is that nothing is interpreted as 'accidental'. He lifted his foot to to avoid making contact and ended up hitting him in the face, but there was no malice and slowing something down only makes things look even worse.
